Phytate, myo-inositol 1,2,3,4,5,6-hexakisphosphate, is the primary source of inositol and the major storage form phosphorus in agricultural feedstuffs, such as cereals, legumes, and oilseeds. Phytase, myo-inositol hexakisphosphate hydrolase (EC 3.1.3.8 for 3-phytase and 3.1.8.26 for 6-phytase), catalyzes the hydrolysis of phytate into myo-inositol and inorganic phosphates

Sulfur (S) is an important macronutrient needed for the normal crop performance. As S in an essential constituent of protein, S deficiency results in a limitation in protein synthesis. Sulfur deficiencies are becoming more common because of the cultivation of high yielding crop cultivars, intensive cultivation, application of fertilisers with little S or no S, cleaner atmospheres as well as reduction in retention of crop residues

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary cancer of the liver, accounting for 70% - 85% of liver cancer cases. HCC has the leading incidence and mortality rate of cancer diseases in general. All most HCC cases were detected in late stage and patients have little chance of effective treatments. Recently, the use of microRNA molecules as potential markers has been focused on the diagnosis of HCC cases and other cancer diseases.

RNA silencing has been regarded as a natural self-defense mechanism to protect plants from their pathogen invasion. Thus, there has been a variety of gene silencing strategies developed and exploited the natural pathway to generate virus-resistant plants. The newly developed artificial microRNA technology is generally recognized as an effective method of down-regulating target genes.
