EFSA GMO Panel Releases Scientific Opinion on GM Mazie DAS1131
Sunday, 2025/03/30 | 06:22:20

ISAAA March 26, 2025

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO Panel) released a Scientific Opinion on genetically modified (GM) maize DAS1131 for import, processing, and food and feed use within the European Union (EU).

GM maize DAS1131 was developed to resist certain lepidopteran pests and tolerate glyphosate herbicide by introducing cry1Da2 and dgt-28 epsps genes. Submitted by Corteva Agriscience LLC, the application GMFF-2021-1530 was evaluated according to Regulation (EC) No. 503/2013.

The GMO Panel identified no safety concerns regarding the toxicity and allergenicity of the proteins expressed in maize DAS1131. In this application, the food and feed uses do not represent a nutritional concern in humans and animals. The Panel concludes that maize DAS1131 is as safe as the conventional counterpart and non‐GM maize varieties tested and does not require post-market food and feed consumption monitoring.

For more information, read the Scientific Opinion from the EFSA Journal.
