In 2024, the IAS has drastically managed and conducted 32 scientific tasks with the fund of VND 21.8 billion (accounted for 64.5% budget). Beside, the IAS scientific service activities gained VND 12.1 billion (accounted for 35.5% budget). The scienticfic tasks of state level, ministry level, extension, international projects, local cooperation and team works occupied 8.1%, 13.7%, 13.3%, 3.7%, 14.2% and 11.6% R&D budget, respectively.

  •
  • Cassava breeding: (1) Hung Loc Centre has established 4.3 ha of cassava breeding line; (2) Two cassava genotypes e.g. HN1 and HN29 were noticed to gain stabe productivity and starch conten, adapted to northern regions; (3)   In High Land and Southeastern regions, HL20-0047 (HL-RS15) obtained its stable fresh tuber and starch content; (4) In South Central Coast, VN19-773 exhibited its promising yield instead of its lightly mosaic susceptibility.
  •
  • Carrot breeding: (1) variety  07THL gained 51.2-54.2 t/ha, which overyielded as compared to the check (Super VL444) in Lam Dong, Daklak, Gia Lai; (2) Beside, the carrot genotypes CR21.1; CR21.36, CR21.120 and CR21.124 exhibited their high potential in Highland; (3) In multilocational yield trial and two seasons, genotype CR21.36 exhibited its resistance to ringspot disease.
  •
  • Potato breeding: (1) Among 9 potato breeding lines tested in two Highland provinces, there is KT16-2-49 (KT16.09) offered over 20 t/ha, with high quality and moderate resistance to major diseases; (2) KT16-2-49 and Atlantic exhibited their well growth and development, suitable to Highland, and obtained over 23 t/ha in large scale farmer field
  •
  • Tomato breeding: (1) Of 15 genotypes, 5 tomato THL lines were identified as promising ones, which exhibited high yield of 54.8-61.3 t/ha in Lam Dong; (2) tomato THL lines as NT223, NT225, NT2315  expressed their resistance to bacterial wilt and Phytopthora (the checks are Maggino and CN1521).
  •

Technology Transfer

  • Cassava: (1) 544,000  cassava clones were provided into Tây Ninh, Đồng Nai, Bình Thuận, Vũng Tàu provinces, and High Land; (2) The seed rate and fertilzer level were identified with cassava clones of HN1 and HN29 in Thanh Hóa and Yen Bai (12,500 seedlings per hectare); (3) Variety HL20-0047 under (South Eastern) Dong Nam Bo conditions was recommended as 12,500 seedlings/ha and application of 120:90:120 kg NPK per hectare; (4) In South Central Coast, cassava variety VN19-773 was recommended as 12,500 seedlings/ha and application of 120:90:120 kg NPK per hectare
  •
  • Potato: (1) In Lam Dong, potato varieties KT16-2-49 and KT16.09 were recommended as 50,000 tubers/ha for seed rate and application of 180:120:180 kg NPK plus 10-15 t manure / ha, or plus 50-70 kg microorganism organic fertilizer / ha; (2) Agricultural mulch film and mist sprinkler irrigation were recommended under new potato breeding lines successfully; (3) 34 demonstrations were set up to produce healthy potato tuber seeds with mechanized land preparing in Lam Dong and Gia Lai; (4) Two pilots of industrialized potato nursery were transferred to produce 500,000 seedlings per 1,000 m2. year -1.
  •
  • Carrot: (1) Carrot seed production protocol of CR21.36 was performed; (2) Four fungicides were successfully applied to prevent CR21.36 from ringspot disease; there are Melody DUO 66, 75WP, Score 250 EC, Daconil and Tilt Super 300EC; (3) Carrot seed treatments by Mancozeb, Dithane and rice husk ash were smoothly transferred to prevent from rotten tuber.
  •
  • Tomato: (1) Tomato intensive protocol of NT225 variety under green house culture was transferred with GT3 substrate included 20% alluvial soil + 80% coconut coir; (2) Tomato fertilizer application per ha was recommended as 1,200 kg of 19-19-19 NPK + 50 kg Ca(NO3)2  + 400 kg MgSO4; (3) Tomato practice protocol was recommended as 30,000 seedlings/ha with the spacing of 1.5 x 0.2 cm.
  •
  • Cassava: (1) Cassava seedling multiplication protocol in Tunnel greenhouse was supported by the National Extension Centre to quicky produce seedlings tolerant to cassava mosaic virus disease in South Eastern regions; (2) Five new cassava genotype pilots were set up to develop two cassava genotypes obtaining 35 t/ha and their starch content of over 27% in Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Dak Lak, Phu Yen and Quang Ngai; (3) Two new cassava genotype pilots were set up in Yen Bai, Thanh Hoa offering high yield of 30 t/ha and starch content of >26%; (4) Developing cassava breeding materials met the demand of 2.7 million free-disease seedlings.
