BIC Vietnam Conducts Seminar on Biotech Crops in Ha Giang Province
Sunday, 2015/12/06 | 06:11:59

AgbiotechVn (BIC Vietnam) in collaboration with the Central Union of Farmers of Vietnam and Union of Farmers of Ha Giang province, one of the localities that have the biggest maize growing areas and production in the country, organized a seminar on biotech crops on November 17, 2015. Participants included Mrs. Xin Thi Bich, Chair of Ha Giang Farmers Union and more than 50 delegates from the provincial departments, districts and representatives of farmers from different regions as well as the provincial TV and newspapers.

At the seminar, Prof. Dr. Le Huy Ham, Director of the Institute of Agricultural Genetics, introduced the basic information on biotech crops, the need for biotech crops and other issues concerning the technology. Comments and questions from the delegates were raised in the seminar, appreciating its effect as being the first seminar on biotech crops held in the northernmost province of the country, helping farmers to fully understand the technology. The participants also expressed their desire that some of biotech crops such as corn, soybeans, and rice will be cultivated in a local area as pilot plants that can then be applied and disseminated to the farmers in districts in the province. AgbiotechVn also introduced their website and gave the instructions on how to access the latest and reliable information on biotech crops.
