In observance of Presidential Proclamation No. 1414, s. 2007, the Philippines will celebrate the 17th National Biotechnology Week (NBW) on November 22-26, 2021. This celebration highlights the valuable contribution of biotechnology to food security, sustainable agriculture, equitable access to health services, sustainable environment, and industry development. This year's NBW celebration is chaired by the Department of Interior and Local Government.

The Department of Agriculture, through the DA Biotech Program Office (DA BPO), in partnership with the Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines (BCP), will organize virtual thematic sessions on biotechnology for green recovery on November 22-24, 2021. The activity aims to prime critical discussions towards the creation of a policy environment that will further promote the development of bio-based industries.

The three-part sessions are scheduled as follows:

Session 1 - Biotechnology in Achieving a Resilient and Progressive Food System: November 22, 2021 (1:30 PM)

Session 2 - Biotechnology and Bioeconomy: November 23, 2021 (9:00 AM)

Session 3 - Scientific Infrastructure for Biotechnology: November 24, 2021 (9:00 AM)

National and international experts were invited as resource speakers in these virtual sessions.

Registration to this event is free and open to all. Register now at bit.ly/BiotechnologyForGreenRecovery.
