IRRI, PhilRice Officials Visit Vandalized Golden Rice Field Trial
Saturday, 2013/08/17 | 04:28:41

Key people from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) and the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) have visited the vandalized Golden Rice Field Trial in the Camarines Sur, Philippines to learn first-hand on the uprooting of the crops planted in the said trial, and to hear the views of the key officials on site. They also attended a briefing from the local personnel of the Department of Agriculture (DA). There, they learned that the entire research team was already looking forward to completing the project on Golden Rice. The morning after the act of vandalism was committed, DA Secretary Proceso Alcala stated on national television that the research should be continued to completion.
