The USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) deregulates herbicide tolerant cotton (Enlist™ cotton) developed by Dow Agrosciences. The decision is based on the final plant pest risk assessment (PPRA), which showed that the GE cotton is unlikely to pose a plant pest risk to agriculture and other plants in the country; and the environmental assessment (EA), which states that the GE cotton is not likely to have a negative impact on the human environment.
Enlist cotton exhibits tolerance to Enlist Duo herbicide, a combination of 2,4-D choline and glyphosate, and full tolerance to glufosinate.
