IRRI News

(BOGOR, Indonesia, 18-19 December 2023) -  IRRI’s key partner in Indonesia, Badan Standardisasi Instrumen Pertanian (BSIP also known as the Agricultural Instruments Standardization Agency), conducted a two-day meeting on 18-19 December 2023. Held at BSIP Food Crop office in Bogor, the meeting was attended by 10 Rice Crop Manager (RCM) Indonesia Implementation Teams from BSIP and IRRI. The meeting aimed to identify challenges and align activities with targeted objectives to ensure the effective implementation of the program.

Dr. Nuning Argo Subekti, M.Sc, Chair of the Food Crop Instrument Standardization Results Management Team emphasized the importance of collaboration to improve processes moving forward, “The RCM Indonesia project is one of the collaborations that evolved from the restructuring of Badan Litbang Pertanian to Badan Standarisasi Instrumen Pertanian (BSIP). Now the collaboration is not only focusing exclusively on research, but emphasizes competitiveness, scalability, and innovation for enhanced farmer welfare.”

Progress reports across the four key Work Packages (WP) were presented by the Indonesian RCM Implementation Team. These included trial progress for decision logic for Layanan Konsultasi Padi (LKP) enhancement, identification of dissemination pathways, and capacity needs assessment. Challenges faced by individual teams were thoroughly discussed to address potential obstacles and solutions. The insights gained and challenges identified during this meeting will be discussed further between the BSIP Food Crops Team and IRRI RCM Indonesia Team for the strategic planning of RCM Indonesia activities in 2024.
