ISAAA, in collaboration with Murdoch University, is calling for participants to register in the virtual workshop on negotiation simulation involving science diplomacy on the regulation of gene-edited crops based on the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety.
The regulatory landscape of agri-biotechnology is quite complex, hence the need for multi-faceted science communication. Negotiation simulations are an effective way of helping interdisciplinary audiences understand policy nuances.
The Biotech Game is a negotiation simulation developed jointly by Muhammad Adeel and Professor Michael Jones from Murdoch University, Perth, Australia. It will be a two-hour-long simulation in which participants will be assigned different stakeholder positions, provided with actual briefing notes in advance, and will then debate and vote on issues on the regulation of New Breeding Technologies.
This virtual workshop is open to early career researchers, students, scientists, policymakers, and industry players. Registration will be closed by August 24, 2021, 17:00 GMT+8. After registration, please check your inbox within 24 hours for more instructions about the game mechanics.
