The International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, Inc. (ISAAA Inc.) and the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC) invite agribiotechnology stakeholders to join the 7th Asian Short Course on Agribiotechnology, Biosafety Regulation, and Communication (ASCA7). This intensive 5-day program, to be held on September 2-6, 2024 at the Maruay Garden Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, is co-hosted by Thailand's Department of Agriculture and Biotechnology Alliance Association.

ASCA7 is designed for scientists, regulators, communicators, and other stakeholders in the Asian biotechnology sector. It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to navigate the complexities of modern agribiotechnology, focusing on:

  • - The value chain of research, development, commercialization, and trade of Living Modified Organisms (LMOs) and gene-edited crops/organisms
  •
  • - National and international regulations governing LMOs and gene-edited products
  •
  • - Effective communication strategies for agricultural biotechnology innovations and biosafety regulations
  •
  • - Bioethical considerations and responsible stewardship practices
  •
  • - The role of science diplomacy in international negotiations

Since its inception in 2018, ASCA has trained over 200 key biotech players in Asia. This program fosters collaboration between scientists, regulators, communicators, and the private sector, ensuring that science and regulations evolve together. This collaborative approach maximizes the benefits of modern biotechnology for society while minimizing potential risks.
