Summary
One hundred and seven normal estrus buffaloes raising in small-houder farms (Nghe An province 40, Thanh Hoa 40 and Thai Nguyen 27) were allocated to one of three different treatment groups to find the efficacy of AI and optimum time of AI. The group A (n=29) received AI at the time 12-18 h, group B (n=46) AI 18-24 h), group C (n= 32) AI 24-32h after the detection of heat signs. This study revealed that the pregnancy percentage of the first, second and third service were (35/107) 32.71; (17/41) 41.46% and (2/5) 28.57% respectively, the average percentage were (55/154) 34,84%. No significant difference between service (P=0.569) was tested by chi-square. The pregnancy rates of buffaloes from three service of groups B> A> C were (28/46) 60.87%; (15/32) 46.87% and (11/29) 37.93% respectively (P= 0,137), the average percentage were (54/107) 50,46%. Pregnancy percentages for the groups inseminated one dose of semen was (34/71) 47,89% lower than that in groups inseminated two dose (20/36) 55,56% (P= 0.453). The percentage of pregnancy buffaloes AI twice with interval 6-9h were higher than that interval 10-13h. From the results, It is concluded that optimum time of AI from 18-24h after the detection of heat signs and AI twice with interval 6-9h could be used to increase pregnancy rate in buffaloes.
